Employee Spotlight: Christy Betz

Christy Betz is next up for our employee spotlight series. She is responsible for all things Tennessee tourism and we love having her on the team. Find out a little more about her below.

  1. How much experience do you have in the travel space? I’ve been passionate about the tourism industry for the past 5 years, beginning my journey with the Eastern Shore of VA Tourism Commission from 2019 to 2023. During my time there I attended STS Marketing College and was fortunate enough to meet Wayne Emmerson. He then introduced me to ATT’s VA Account Executive, Becca Meyers. I soon had the pleasure of becoming a client of ATT, a company I quickly grew to admire for its ethical and trustworthy practices. When life brought me to the Nashville area, Becca encouraged me to apply for the Tennessee Account Executive position with ATT. I was thrilled at the opportunity, knowing firsthand the incredible work ATT does. Now, almost a year into my role with ATT, I’m proud to continue my journey in the travel space, building on the solid foundation I established in Virginia.
  1. Where are you from? Where do you live now? I was born and raised on the Eastern Shore of VA. I’ve lived all over the place, as my husband was in the US Navy for 20 years and retired in 2019. We have settled in Fairview, TN, a small town about 30 minutes from Nashville. We love TN!
  1. What’s your favorite thing about working in Tourism? Tourism is such a vibrant and exciting industry! The people in this field are truly remarkable. When I began my journey at the DMO in VA, I quickly realized that these were “my people.” The work can be challenging at times, but no two days are ever the same. That’s one of the reasons I love working with ATT—the campaigns are creative, the people are amazing, and there’s never a dull moment. After five years, I’m confident that I chose the right path. Or perhaps, it chose me? Life has a funny way of guiding you to where you’re meant to be.
  1. Favorite place to visit? My favorite place to visit is the Eastern Shore of VA, where my mom, dad, sister, and her family live. There’s nothing quite like spending time with them—watching the cousins play, going crabbing, swimming, and relaxing on the beach. We might even catch a glimpse of a wild pony or two. Boating up Onancock Creek and stopping at a sandbar is one of our favorite activities. And the sunrises and sunsets are truly magical! With the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Chesapeake Bay on the other, you can experience the incredible sight of the sun rising and setting over the water.
  1. What are some things/hobbies you like to do outside of work? I’m all about the great outdoors! Hiking is a favorite pastime for me and my family. We love finding new places to explore and anything on the water. Whether it’s cruising on a pontoon boat, fishing, kayaking, or just floating down a river, we love it all.
